Well, it has been awhile since I wrote something in here. It hasn't been for lack of anything happening. Mainly, it was just laziness. I have sat wanting to get things off my chest, but I would find myself gravitating to something more....interactive. I'm talking video games.
So what have I been doing? Well, if you count floating in this septic tank we call Spokane a "thing" then I have been doing it quite well. It is not that Spokane has lost any of it's charm since 2005 when I decided to stay, it never really had any. I stayed to be closer to my daughter which ironically I haven't seen in so long I have stop keeping count. It's not from lack of trying. I have brought cases against her mom. I tried contacting her a long time ago, but I got the run around just like my lawyer got the run around for so long.
That isn't the reason Spokane sucks though, the reason is that the comedy scene here is not what it's cracked out to be. Spokane is a conservative area so comedy here has to be a certain way. Giving that a lot of comics are on the liberal side, comedy doesn't take off here. We have two comedy clubs and all kinds of other stuff, but comedy is more of a distraction to keep people buying alcohol. It isn't to be seen as an art form, which is pretty crappy when you work on a good bit and you don't actually get a good response unless you are in a more "progressive" town.
With my daughter and my the state of comedy in Spokane both weighing on me, I have been focusing on my degree. A degree I don't plan to use. I think right now it is a goal I need to get out of the way. I don't know what might happen, so I don't want to be caught in a situation where I can't do comedy like I want and I have no means of making a good living.
